Sassanid empire was one of the major empires in Western Asia that fought against the Roman empire for more than 400 years. Sassanid also had sustained a relationship with the Tang dynasty of China where their products e.g. arts works, weapons, and culture were spread out through Western Asia. The empire lasted until 651 CE. The last king of Sassanid was Yazdgird III, who reign from 624 CE to 651 CE and ascended the throne when he was eight years old.(Cevantes, 2013)
The location of the Sassanid empire includes Iran, Iraq, Armenia, southern Caucasus (South of Dagestan), South West of central Asia, west of Afghanistan, parts of Turkey, parts of Syria, coastal areas of the Arabian Peninsula, the Gulf, and a small area of southwestern Pakistan.(Sassanid Empire, n.d)
The economy of the Sassanid empire was developed quickly and the economic state powerfully spread throughout Western Asia. With this particular character the Sassanid empire’s economy became a model for the economic evolution of the Near East. The fundamentally to build the economy is the natural elements and human intervention. In the past, topography, streams, fertility of the soil and availability of water are affected with the farmer economy. Among these elements it assigned the development or regression of the empire. The Sasanian king supported the economy of these royal cities and ensured the high security and transport of highly skilled works which the major part of the empire’s economy. The last leader of the Sassanid Empire, Yazdgird III (624-651 CE) was ruling during the Muslim invasion. From 629 to 630 CE, the Sassanid Empire lost against Oman, Yemen and Bahrain. In 633 CE, the Sassanian army lost in the battle of D’at al-Salasel against the Muslim army. Tragedies continued to happen with the Sassanid Empire, their army lost the southern Mesopotamia to the Arabs. Yazdgird III had to move to Ray, but the Arabs then conquered the heartland of Iran, so the king had to move further toward the east. People believed that he was assassinated in 651 CE. The Arabs took control of the Sassanid Empire, it was the end of a mighty empire.(Cevantes, 2013)
