Zoroastrianism.jpgThe main religion of the Sassanid Empire was Zoroastrianism, also known as Mazdaism, a monotheistic pre-Islamic religion of Persia. It is considered as one of the oldest religions that is still active. Beside Zoroastrianism, there other religions like Judaism, Christianity and Buddhism. The religions were widely spread and people were free to advocate their beliefs. A Large community of Jewish was growing under Sassanid rule. Christians at that time were mainly belonged to the Nestorian and Jacobite branches, also known as the Assyrian Church of the East and the Syriac Orthodox Church. Even though these churches had good connections with Christian churches in the Roman Empire, they were quite different because the church language for the Nestorian and Jacobite branches was Aramaic. This language was also used by the Jewish people in Judea and Galilee.(Sassanid Empire, n.d)
